About Yoga

Yoga is a wonderful gift of ancient tradition. It brings the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between humans and nature, thus a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not an exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and nature.

At IIT Ropar, we focus on the above aspects and we conduct not only the general classes but in our 2017 agenda we are focusing into the therapeutic approach towards the ailments as well.

The aim of this therapeutic approach is to overcome different kinds of ailments leading to a normal life with holistic health, happiness and harmony.



Talking about the physical level, Yoga’s therapeutic application beyond stress-related ailments, physicians today have an advantage in treating patient’s illness and disorders. Following historical guidelines, Yoga teachers can adopt postures (poses/asanas) to ensure patient’s organs, joints and bones are aligned to achieve physiologic changes.

Physicians today are recognizing Yoga as a complimentary therapy and incorporating it in treatment of patient’s diseases and disorders.




 Stress and anxiety are everywhere. Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical poses called as asanas, controlled treating called pranayama and meditation called as dhyana. So these three combined practices will help reduce stress, lower blood pressure and lower the heart rate as well. So looking at these wonderful combination of asanas, pranayama and dhyana, we can easily summarize the practice of Yoga may help with depression and the symptoms, such as low self esteem, difficulty in concentration or even anxiety disorder, persistent fear, panic, anger and insomnia.
