About the Workshop
Department of Humanities and Social Sciences is going to organize a 3-DayWorkshop on Statistical Methods for Mastersand PhD studentsof our institute. The workshop is scheduled to be held during October 28-30, 2017. This workshop is expected to introduce the participants with the basic concepts of Sampling Survey Methods, Analysis of Variance, Statistical Distributions etc. with special focus on applications in the field of social sciences. We have invited Prof. Pulakesh Maity, Economic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute(ISI), Kolkata for this purpose. Details of the session and topic is given below.

Brief Bio-sketch of the speaker
Pulakesh Chandra Maiti is Professor at Economic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute Calcutta, since September 2014. He has been associated with Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta since 1984. He has served in several visiting and honorary positions in India as well as abroad. He is actively involved in providing consultancy services to Government of India as well as Government of West Bengal. He studied statistics from Indian Statistical Institute Calcutta and did his PhD in the area of sampling from the same institute. He has numerous publications in well reputed peer reviewed national and international journals as well as reputed international conference proceedings.
