IITRopar signs MoU with Central Scientific Instruments Organization, Chandigarh.
IIT Ropar and CSIR-CSIO join hands for “Academic Exchange and Scientific Research”
Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) and Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) have entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Academics as well as advancement in S&T.
Prof. S.K Das said “This MoU will facilitate exchange of Staff and Students towards co-supervision of Undergaduate, Postgraduate and Ph.D. theses, participation in research thus promoting interaction among the scientists, professors and research scholars of both the organizations.”
Divulging more, he added that this will help in pursuing joint research programs including externally funded schemes and Consultancy activities etc. Also, this will facilitate collaboration in Teaching under AcSIR (Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research).
Scope of MoU also involves sharing of expertise, domain knowledge and available facilities in mutually agreed research areas (viz. Physics, Photonics, Optics, Chemistry, Biomedical, Material science and engineering, Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Electronics, Computation, Mechanical Engineering and any other areas of common interest in science and engineering) for research and development.

Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO), a constituent unit of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), is a premier national laboratory dedicated to research, design and development of scientific and industrial instruments. It is a multi-disciplinary and multi-dimensional apex industrial research & development organisation in the country to stimulate growth of Instrument Industry in India covering wide range and applications. CSIO is manned by highly qualified and well trained staff with infrastructural facilities in the areas of Agrionics; Biomedical Instrumentation and prosthetics; Optics and Cockpit based Instrumentation; Fiber/Laser Optics based Sensors & Instrumentation; Analytical Instrumentation; Advanced Materials based Transducers etc. CSIO has contributed substantially towards the growth of the scientific instruments industry in the country.
Prof. Sarit K Das, Director IIT Ropar and Prof. R. K. Sinha, Director CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh, have signed this MoU on behalf of Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) and Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) respectively. On this occasion Senior officials from both the organizations were also present.
