IIT Ropar Ranked Number 1 in Research Quality by QS India Rankings 2020

Getting a lead in its high Research Quality the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has been adjudged highest in the Citations per Paper among all IITs in the country. The institution has been ranked at No. 25 in the QS India Rankings 2020 announced on Tuesday.

IIT Ropar, established in 2008, had scored 94.7 in Citation per Paper and 70.2 in Paper per faculty. It has been focusing on core research areas as well as the interdisciplinary research for solving regional and national problems.

Every year the institute had witnessed a rise in the number of PhD students on the campus and this year there has been a considerable rise in the total number that had reached to 515 students from 389 students last year. The current faculty to PhD students’ ratio is 1:3.17

The faculty members of IIT Ropar are actively engaged in various research projects funded by external funding agencies. Since the inception of the institute, the faculty has been attracting research projects from the different funding agencies such as Indo-Canadian IMPACTS, DST-Indo-Russian, SPARC, Indo-Taiwan Joint Research Centre, ICMR, Indo-Russian Joint Project Scheme, etc. Till date, the Institute has received 215 projects with an outlay of Rs. 83.97 crore.

The second edition of the QS India University Rankings features 107 Indian Universities and the Rankings are based on eight indicators; academic reputation, employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, staff with a PhD, papers per faculty, citations per paper, international faculty and international students.
