Talk in CSE: Contemporary Computing Platforms

Title: CONTEMPORARY COMPUTING PLATFORMS :– A SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE PERSPECTIVE

Abstract:
With continuous evolution of computing platforms and increasing complexity of software applications, the challenges for a software architect have increased significantly. Emergence of a variety of virtualization and cloud based platforms has added to the list of possible design options that an architect has to consider during software architecture activities. This opens up research explorations around the questions such as:

- Is architecting for contemporary platforms, such as cloud, same as for conventional platforms?
- How do the characteristics of contemporary platforms impact architecture of guest applications?
- When to go to the cloud?

In order to answer the questions such as above, we examine in-depth, the cloud and virtualization based platforms from the perspective of several key stakeholders such as cloud providers, application developers and enterprise architects.
