On behalf of faculty, staff, and students at the Department of Chemistry, the organizing committee is pleased to invite you and your colleagues to attend the inaugural biennial conference, Thematic Conference in Chemical Sciences (TC2S) – 2017: Sustainable Chemistry. A major aim of this conference is to promote discussion and exchange of ideas on various aspects of sustainable chemistry, with emphasis on sustainable synthesis of organic and inorganic materials; design and applications of energy materials; sustainable catalysis and chemistry for industry; and drug delivery.
Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar) is an institute of national importance. It was established in 2008 by an act of parliament, with an ambition to enhance the quality of technical education in the country. Since its inception, the institute is engaged in cutting edge research and teaching (PhD, masters, and undergraduate) in engineering; basic sciences; and humanities and social sciences. It received an overall 9th rank among the engineering institutes of India (NIRF) in 2016.
Department of Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry was established in 2009. Since beginning, it is engaged in cutting-edge research in diverse areas like biomaterials, biosensors, catalysis, drug delivery, materials, NMR spectroscopy, organometallic chemistry, renewable energy, supramolecular syntheses, synthetic organic chemistry, and theoretical chemistry. Our main focus is to make meaningful impact in key areas of drug design and delivery; energy and environment; and nanomaterials. The department offers Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in chemistry and also engaged in teaching undergraduate chemistry to engineering students (B.Tech.). We have created world class infrastructure to support quality research and teaching. The department is served by twelve full-time faculty, a faculty fellow, and six staff members. Within last eight years, we have published more than three hundred twenty papers in peer-reviewed international journals and received grant of more than hundred million rupees in external funding.
City of Ropar
