Internships and industrial training are known to be one of the most learning experiences in an undergraduate's period of study. It is during this internship where students gain first exposure to the industry as their first step towards becoming a competent professional. At IIT Ropar, as a part of the curriculum, pre-final year students of the B.Tech programme undergo at least 10 weeks of compulsory summer internships in various leading organizations.

Students are also exposed to latest industrial experience by regular industry visits. Second year students also gain valuable industrial exposure through internships in the industry. Students have been pursuing internships and projects in various national and international academic institutions and companies.
