About Kuruskshetra University

Established in 1956 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, Kurukshetra University stands as a beacon of knowledge and innovation in the holy city of Kurukshetra—the land of the Mahabharata and the eternal message of the Bhagavad Gita. Sprawling over 473 acres on the scenic western bank of the sacred Brahm Sarovar, the University has grown from a single Department of Sanskrit into a multi-faculty center of excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.

With over six decades of academic distinction, Kurukshetra University has earned an ‘A++’ grade from NAAC and is ranked 8th among State Universities in Category-I by the Ministry of Education, enjoying full academic autonomy. The lush green campus offers world-class infrastructure, smart classrooms, modern laboratories, and a vibrant learning environment guided by highly qualified and dedicated faculty.

All programs follow the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) under the Learning Outcome Curriculum Framework (LOCF), ensuring flexibility and alignment with industry and skill-development needs. The University hosts two national research facilities—the Ion Beam Centre and the Low Temperature Thermochronology Centre—along with several upcoming advanced research centres.

Beyond academics, Kurukshetra University excels in sports and cultural achievements, nurturing well-rounded individuals. Students enjoy outstanding facilities, including 25 hostels, a central library for 1,300 readers, advanced digital resources, auditoria, health and banking services, and a vibrant campus life.

Kurukshetra University continues to inspire generations—empowering minds, advancing research, and shaping a sustainable future.
