Indian Institute of Technology Ropar
Welcome to the home page of the Terahertz Photonics Laboratory at IIT Ropar, Punjab, India. Led by Prof. Gagan Kumar, the laboratory conducts research in terahertz optics, plasmonics, metamaterials, guided wave devices, topological photonics, and ultrafast terahertz spectroscopy. The research activities encompass simulations, theoretical work, and experiments, all aimed at developing next-generation photonic devices and sensors. Currently, the primary research focus of the laboratory includes investigations of terahertz broadband metamaterials, terahertz topological and plasmonic guided wave devices, PT symmetry in metasurfaces, and bound state in the continuum (BIC) metasurfaces. The laboratory has managed several projects funded by various agencies, including the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and the Department of Information Technology (DIT). For more details about our ongoing research activities, projects, and laboratory facilities, please refer to the relevant sections of this website.
