Parwinder Singh received his PhD in Counselling Psychology. He started his career as a counselling psychologist and provided his services for almost five years in the Department of Psychology, Punjabi University, Patiala. From 2011 to April 2018, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at a constituent campus of Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. His research work mainly includes planning, devising, executing and evaluating various psychological interventions targeting different facets of maladaptive behaviour. He studies social-cognitive aspects of adaptive and maladaptive behavioural patterns, primarily focusing on behaviour modification and optimum utilization of human potential through the application of principles concerning the dynamics of human behaviour. Presently he is working on aggression, depression & emotion regulation and exploring how various risk and protective factors associated with these phenomena can be manipulated in order to reduce, control and regulate these phenomena. He aspires his work to be focused upon characterizing the cognitive architecture of emotion regulation and on understanding how dysfunctional cognitions leads to an inability to regulate ones’ emotions effectively.
