M.Sc. programmes at IIT Ropar

 IIT Ropar currently offers a 2-year M.Sc. programme in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The admission to all these courses through the Joint admission Test for M.Sc (JAM.). For more details the readers may check the respective departments.

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Eligibility Requirement

Minimum educational qualification (MEQ) and eligibility requirement (ER) to take admission in the M.Sc. Programmes at IIT Ropar are the following:

  

M.Sc. Chemistry:

MEQ:    Bachelor’s degree with Chemistry as a subject for three years/ six semesters & Mathematics as a subject at (10+2) level

ER:      
1.All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree.

 

2.At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks,without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree. 

   

M.Sc. Mathematics:

MEQ:   Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters

 

ER:      

1. All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree. 

 

2.At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks,without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree. 

 

 

   

M.Sc. Physics:

MEQ:  No restrictions for engineering degrees. For B.Sc./B.S. degree,  Physics for at least two years/ four semesters & Mathematics for at least one year/two semesters.

 

ER:  

1.   All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree. .

 

2. At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks,without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree. 

 

  Scholarship:



-> M.Sc. students will be eligible to receive Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship from the first semester based on All India Rank in JAM-2022.

-> Scholarship will be renewed every semester based on satisfactory performance in the academic programme.

-> Scholarship is applicable to top 25% of the students in the M.Sc. programme and gross annual family income less than Rs.4.5 lakhs.

-> The present value of scholarship is - exemption from Tution Fees and recipient is eligible to get pocket allowance @ Rs. 1000/- per month.
