SPOT ROUND FOR ADMISSION TO VACANT SEATS IN M.Sc. MATHEMATICS, CHEMISTRY, AND PHYSICS FOR THE CANDIDATES QUALIFIED IN JAM - 2020 FOR ADMISSION TO ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-21.

The following seats are Vacant:-

  • 1.) M.Sc. Mathematics – Total 5 [Gen 2, EWS 1, SC 1, SC PWD 1]

  • 2.) M.Sc. Chemistry - Total 2 [Gen 1, ST PWD 1]

  • 3.) M.Sc. Physics - Total 5 [Gen 2, OBC 1, SC 1, OBC PWD 1]

  • • The PWD seats, if not filled will be merged in the respective category.

Applications are called from the candidates who qualified JAM 2020 and are willing to join IIT Ropar against the vacant seats. The provisional admission offer letter will be issued on the basis of merit of JAM ranking, Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) and Eligibility Requirement (ER) in the Category. The candidates who have not got seat through JAM 2020 need to apply. Interested candidates can apply along with copies of Certificates (10th Certificate, 12th Certificate, Graduation Certificates, JAM Ranking Score card) on the following link on or before 26/Aug/2020. Waiting list will be prepared if there are more number of candidates. Incomplete applications will not be entertained. There is no application fee. The selected candidate will be informed though emails. The last date of receiving of application is 26/Aug/2020

Eligibility Requirement (ER) & Minimum Educational Qualification for Admission(MEQ):

Eligibility Requirement (ER):

The candidates who qualify in JAM 2020 shall have to fulfill the following Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admissions to IITs.

1. All candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree. At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree.

Minimum Education Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics for at least two years/four semesters.
Bachelor’s degree with Chemistry for three years/six semesters and should have passed Mathematics at Higher Secondary (10+2) level.
Bachelor’s degree with Physics for at least two years/four semesters and Mathematics for at least one year/two semesters.

INFORMATION FOR M.TECH. & M.SC. STUDENTS FOR AY 2020-21

ACADEMIC PLAN OF 1ST SEMESTER OF ACADEMIC YEAR 2020-21 FOR NEW ADMISSION (M.TECH. & M.Sc.) STUDENTS.
The 1st semester of AY 2020-21 for the newly admitted students will start through ONLINE MODE for M.Tech. & M.Sc. 2020 batch.
1. Registration of new students : 7th Sept. 2020
2. Allotment of email id/Moodle Account : 7th Sept. 2020
3. Institute Orientation : 08th Sept. 2020 (Forenoon)
4. Departmental Orientation: 08th Sept. 2020 (Afternoon)
5. Classes Start on 10th Sept. 2020 and lectures to be over by Dec. 10th, 2020

M.Sc. programmes at IIT Ropar

 IIT Ropar currently offers a 2-year M.Sc. programme in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The admission to all these courses through the Joint admission Test for M.sc (JAM.). For more details the readers may check the respective departments.

 Minimum Educational Qualifications and Eligibility Requirement

Minimum educational qualification (MEQ) and eligibility requirement (ER) to take admission in the M.Sc. Programmes at IIT Ropar are the following:

  M.Sc. Chemistry:

MEQ:    Bachelor’s degree with Chemistry as a subject for three years/ six semesters & Mathematics as a subject at (10+2) level

ER:      
1. All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree.

 

2. At least 55% aggregate marks, without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/OBC-NCL Category Candidates and at least 50% aggregate marks,without rounding off, (taking into account all subjects, including Languages and Subsidiaries, all years combined) for SC/ST and PwD Category Candidates in the qualifying degree. 

   M.Sc. Mathematics:

MEQ:   Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters

  Scholarship:

1.

       ->  M.Sc. students will be eligible to receive Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship from the first semester based on All India Rank in JAM-2018.

-> Scholarship will be renewed every semester based on satisfactory performance in the academic programme.

-> Scholarship is applicable to top 25% of the students in the MSc programme and gross annual family income less than Rs.4.5 lakhs

-> Th present value of scholarship is exempted from Tution Fees and recipient is eligible to Rs. 1000/- from pocket allowance
