PROFILE

Dr. Rishi Kumar Tiwari, a Master’s and Doctorate in Library and Information Science from Jiwaji University, Gwalior (M.P.), is a recipient of the Commonwealth Professional Fellowship of 2014 (University of East London) and is a well-known name in the Library Science professional circle. He has vast experience of more than 28 years in handling and managing library services. Currently, he works as a Librarian at Central Library Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur. Earlier, he served as Head Librarian at Birla Institute of Management (BIMTECH), Greater Noida UP.

Dr. Tiwari is also a founder member and Secretary of “Ranganathan Society for Social Welfare and Library Development.” He is known for jail reform and for creating an academic echo system in the prisons. He has established 14 Prison libraries, 16 Rural Libraries, 4 computer centers, and 2 schools for financially weaker children.

Dr. Tiwari has organized various conferences and workshops of the National and International levels. He has published 24 research papers and has 4 books to his credit as an editor, and he has delivered more than 70 guest lectures in various National and International seminars and conferences. He also guides and supervises Library and Information Science scholars in their research work. He has visited many countries as a member of the SAARC delegation.

Dr. Rishi Tiwari has also been awarded the ILA S.M. Ganguly Best School Library Award for 2003; ILA Promoter Award for 2008; SATKAL Young Librarian Award 2013; AIMS International Outstanding Librarian Award 2014; Commonwealth Professional Fellowship 2014; Vishwalaxmi Best Management Librarian Award 2015; Dr. Velga Memorial Award for Innovative Library Service by India CSR 2017; Sandvik India Gender Award 2019; Technical Institute Librarian Award 2017 by Madhya Pradesh Library Association; “101 Fabulous Global CSR Leaders” by ET Now for 2020; “DG Medal” from Director General of Prison, UP for 2020; One of “44 Unsung Heroes” Identified by India Today in 2020, and ILA- KAULA BEST LIBRARIAN AWARD 2022.

Dr. Tiwari has been nominated by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, as a Jury member for the Tagore National Fellowship for Cultural Research.
