BAJA SAE 2019 - IIT ROPAR

Description

IIT Ropar has hosted the BAJA SAE India competition multiple times, with the 2018 and 2019 events being notable examples. The competition involves student teams designing, building, and testing single-seat, off-road vehicles, with events including static evaluations like design and cost presentations, and dynamic evaluations such as brake tests and an endurance race on a rugged track.

BAJA SAE India is a national engineering design competition for undergraduate students, focusing on the design of rugged, all-terrain vehicles.

IIT Ropar's Role: IIT Ropar has served as a host for the second leg of the competition in different years. The institute's role includes providing the infrastructure and event management support for the dynamic and endurance rounds.

Key Events:

Static Evaluation: The competition starts with static rounds where teams present their designs, cost analysis, and marketing strategies.

Dynamic Evaluation: This includes tests on factors like acceleration, braking, and maneuverability.
Endurance Race: The finale is a four-hour endurance race on a challenging off-road track, which in the past has included elements like muddy pits, cliffs, and slopes.

Participant Engagement: The competition draws students from across the country to showcase their engineering skills and team collaboration, with events like the 2019 edition involving over 4,250 students.
