Dr. Puneet Kumar is currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the School of AI and Data Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar, India. He is concurrently an Affiliated Scientist at the Meditation Research Program, Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital, USA. Dr. Kumar brings a diverse background spanning academia and industry, having previously served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oulu, Finland, and a Visiting Faculty at the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA. He also held the position of Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at PaiByTwo Pvt. Ltd. and worked with Oracle India Pvt. Ltd. and Samsung R&D. Dr. Kumar earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) and his M.E. from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, where he was awarded the Institute Medal. His research interests include affective computing, multimodal emotion understanding, and computational cognitive neuroscience.
