The Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Ropar was established in the academic year 2017-18 with the goal of providing engineers with a broad array of talents for the emerging chemical industries in the nation and worldwide. The Department presently offers undergraduate (B.Tech.) and postgraduate (M.Tech., Ph.D.) programs. The Department is a community of outstanding research scholars, experienced educators, and talented students. The faculty members work in the various areas of chemical engineering, such as Catalysis and Reaction Engineering, Energy and Environment, Multiscale Modeling, Soft Matter Engineering, and Transport Phenomena and Thermodynamics. Our faculty members are outstanding researchers in their respective fields and are strongly committed to our students' education and professional growth.

 The Department endeavours to establish an international reputation for research and education in the focus areas. In addition to the conventional core courses, the Department offers numerous state-of-the-art courses in emerging research areas. The Department houses cutting-edge research equipment like Viscometer, Force Tensiometer, Mastersizer, Zetasizer, Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA), Rheometer, Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FT-IR) Spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS), Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA).
