Biography

Dr. G. Sridhar has over three decades of experience spanning research and development, technology development and commercialization, industry, government, and institutional leadership in the energy and bioenergy sectors. He is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and has worked in both industrial R&D and the public-sector research ecosystem, including Siemens Corporate Technology and SSS-NIBE. As Director General of SSS-NIBE, he led initiatives in bioenergy research, technology development, capacity building, technology translation and national programmes in renewable energy. His work has covered biomass conversion, decentralized energy systems, biofuels, clean cooking, waste-to-energy and emerging pathways for sustainable energy transition.

Research and Development Focus

Dr. Sridhar is particularly interested in developing integrated approaches for biomass and waste valorization, including thermochemical and biological conversion routes, biochar and other value-added products, decentralized energy systems, and pathways for reducing emissions from agricultural and organic residues.

He is also interested in mentoring students and researchers, developing industry-oriented research programmes, supporting technology translation, commercialization, and establishing collaborative platforms between academia, industry and government.
