Welcome to Vibrations and Acoustics Research Lab
Vibration and Acoustics Laboratories (VAL) is located in Room No. 121, academic building at IIT Ropar. It is equipped with the necessary expertise and the state-of-the-art instrumentation required for measurement, analysis, and control of undesired motion and noise of structures and machinery. In addition, short courses can be designed in the field of noise and vibration control to meet the needs of industry. Presently, VAL is focusing on investigating and developing advanced methods for active and passive noise and vibration control systems. All of the experiments are designed to demonstrate physical principles. Several are also designed to demonstrate applications or to give experience with widely-used tools and techniques in sound and vibration engineering.
The focus of recent work has broadened to include structural health monitoring, damage detection and prognosis, active vibration control, rotating machinery modeling and signature analysis, noise barrier design and acoustic noise source identification utilizing microphone arrays.
