• International women’s Day, IIT Ropar, 7-12th March 2025

      As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, a week-long series of events was organized to honor and empower women within the institute community. Highlights of the extravaganza include a musical evening, talent showcase, fashion show, and interactive competitions. A women’s cricket match promoted sportsmanship and teamwork, while a wellness session by renowned speaker Ms. Riri G Trivedi offered insights into mental well-being and self-care. The celebrations concluded with an engaging demonstration of Kalaripayattu, showcasing India’s rich martial arts heritage. With enthusiastic participation from faculty, staff, students, and families, the event successfully fostered inclusivity, creativity, and celebration of womanhood across all age groups.

            

          • International Day for Women and Girls in Science, IIT Ropar and INYAS event, 11th-Feb-2025

            What an inspiring day! ? We celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at IIT Ropar in collaboration with INYAS on February 11th, 2025, and it was a resounding success! Huge thanks to all the incredible speakers who shared their expertise and passion across Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
            We were captivated by Prof. Abha Mishra (IISc Bengaluru) on “Role of interfacial defects in molecular sensing,” Dr. Neha Sardana (IIT Ropar) on “Metamaterials and nature,” Dr. S. Sinha (INST Mohali) on “Compartmentalization In Biology,” Prof. V. Singh (PEC) on “Breaking boundaries and changing mindset for a sustainable future,” Dr. S. Vaidya (INST Mohali) on “Structural Turning of Nanostructures,” Dr. S. Maheshwary (IIT Roorkee) on “Cut groups,” and Dr. A. Pandey (IIT Ropar) on “Graph optimization problems.” A special shoutout to all the powerful, well established women speakers, true role models indeed!
            The Poster Evaluation at the SDB Open Area was a fantastic opportunity for networking and discussion. Special shoutout to the winners of the poster making competition from Bela college. Thank you to all the participants who presented their work! And of course, thanks to everyone who joined us and made the day so special.       • International Women’s Day 2024, IIT Ropar and INYAS event, 3rd to 5th March 2024

      • Celebration of an unforgettable 3-day International Women’s Day festivity at IITRopar!

        • Day 1 kicked off with high energy as we grooved to exciting aerobics fit dance led by the enthusiastic Ms. Yogita. We also learned essential self-defense techniques from the skilled Mr. Chand, and improved our tennis game under the guidance of Ms. Vishakha. The day continued with thrilling matches of tug of war, kho kho, and 7 stones, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and their families for a fun-filled Sunday.
        • On Day 2, we collaborated with INYAS to engage students in thought-provoking poster, slogan, and rangoli competitions.
          Inspirational talks from the esteemed Padma Shri Janak ji on Sustainability and by former DST Scientist S K Varshney about gender equality, left us all inspired. The day culminated in captivating performances by the talented IIT Ropar community, followed by heartwarming prize distributions.
        • Finally, Day 3 started with welcome note by Director IIT Ropar, talk on zero waste life by Padma Shri Janak Paltana McGilligan followed by talk on Creating Gender Sensitive Environment at Higher Education Institutions by advocate Rajesh Gill and Stress management techniques by Doc D. Basera. The 3 day extravaganza of celebrating women and inspiring inclusion ended with vote of thanks by chair women’s forum Dr. Neha Sardana.
                            
      • International Day for Women and Girls in Science, IIT Ropar and INYAS event, 9th-Feb-2024

        With more than 700 school students from Punjab area IIT Ropar in collaboration with Inyas organised the international day for women and girls in science on 9th February with special talks from role models Like Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Dr. Anindita Bhadra, Ms. Vaishakha Poundarik, Dr. Shweta Jain and Dr. Neha Sardana, they presented various career paths to choose from in medical, science, sports and engineering. It was attended by more than 700 students from the Punjab region.

      • International Women’s Day 2023, IIT Ropar and INYAS event, 2nd March 2023

        Women’s forum Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar in collaboration with INYAS celebrated #InternationalWomenDay2023 with plethora of activities and lectures by eminent speakers. The guest of honor, Dr. SARMISHTHA BHATTACHARYA talked about the Cyclotron to probe nuclei and it’s applications. Doctor Lipika Gautam, discussed the Antibiotic Resistance: The road to post-antibiotic era. Doctor Subina Narang shared about Retinopathy of prematurity followed by Poster making, slogan writing and Rangoli making competitions for all students. Ms. Anita Budhiraja, of NIELIT discussed on the topic, Women Empowerment by skill development followed by a talk of Ms. Arvinder Kaur, on Women Nutrition and Health. The day was concluded by giving prizes to the winners from events carried on 10th Feb and 2nd March 2023.

    • Post covid the events started again in 2022 with Dr. Manju Khan as the Women’s Forum Chairperson and Dr. Neha Sardana as the event coordinator. International Women’s Day 2022 was celebrated in the esteemed presence of Dr. Rajeev Ahuja, Director IIT Ropar on 8th March 2022.
