7890B Gas Chromatograph: (i) Equipped with a HP-5MS capillary column that has a maximum operation temperature of 325 degrees Celcius, (ii) Can be operated in Split and Splitless modes. 5977 A Mass Selective Detector (MSD): (i) Ionizatio mode – Electron Impact (EI), (ii) Mass filter – Heated hyperbolic quadrupole, (iii) Mass range – 1.6 to 1050 u and (iv) Equipped with an autosampler

Limitation of the Instrument:

Incompatibility with certain samples: GC-MS is not suitable for the analysis of certain types of samples that: (i) are thermally unstable, (ii) are highly viscous, (iii) contain water, (iv) contain non-volatile chemical compounds, (v) contain isomers or closely related compounds (v) contain inorganic chemical compounds such as acids and bases
