IIT Ropar celebrated its 7th Annual Convocation at the permanent campus in December 03, 2018. The Chief Guest was Prof. John H. Lienhard V, Director, Jameel Water and Food Security Lab, MIT, USA. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. S. K. Das, Director of IIT Ropar. A total of 173 degrees were conferred — 103 B.Tech., 19 M.Tech., 27 M.Sc., and 24 Ph.D. For the first time, IIT Ropar introduced a Best Thesis Award category. Four Ph.D. awardees — Dr. Aru Beri, Dr. Balwinder Kaur, Dr. Harpreet Singh, and Dr. Satyajit Pramanik — were felicitated. President of India Gold Medal went to Devendra Pratap Yadav (CSE). Director’s Gold Medal was awarded to Deepak Attri (Electrical Engineering). Institute Silver Medals were awarded to five students from B.Tech., M.Tech., and M.Sc. programmes. The Director highlighted IIT Ropar’s growth in research excellence and academic achievements. He also noted significant expansion in faculty and student strength. The convocation reflected the institute’s continued rise in innovation, scholarship, and global collaborations.
