6th Convocation, IIT Ropar - November 28, 2017
Description
The Sixth Annual Convocation of IIT Ropar was held at its permanent campus in November 28, 2017. The Chief Guest was Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, Principal Advisor to the Ministry of Power, New & Renewable Energy, Government of India. Prof. S.K. Das, Director, presided over the ceremony. A total of 160 degrees were awarded: 118 B.Tech., 11 M.Tech., 18 M.Sc., and 13 Ph.D. degrees. This represented a 22% increase in graduates compared to the previous year. Gold Medals: President of India Gold Medal – Tushar Agarwal (CSE); Institute Gold Medal – Swapnil Rai (ME). Silver Medals were awarded to meritorious students in B.Tech., M.Tech., and M.Sc. programs across various departments. Prof. Das congratulated graduates, calling the day a “Red Letter Day”, and encouraged them to pursue leadership and career goals. The Institute recognized faculty and student achievements, including NASI-Scopus Young Scientist Award, DBT Ramalingaswami Fellowship, and other national awards. Ph.D. students received international recognition, including the BEST Presentation Award at ICIEM 2017 and BASE Internship. Chief Guest Prof. Jhunjhunwala emphasized daily self-improvement, acquiring resources, and creating positive transformations in life. He concluded by advising students to embrace life as a roller-coaster ride and enjoy the journey while keeping focus on their goals.
