Dr. Srinivasa Rao Konda has joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at IIT Ropar starting from February 2025. He is enthusiastic about establishing the Ultrafast Spectroscopy and Photonics (USP) Laboratory in the Physics Department at IIT Ropar.
Dr. KSRao received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Hyderabad (UOH) in 2016. His Ph.D. thesis was adjudged the “Best Thesis Award” at the National Laser Symposium (NLS-25). Following his Ph.D., he served as an Assistant Professor in the GPL Photonics Laboratory at the Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics, and Physics (CIOMP), China from 2017 to 2024. During this period, his research was primarily focused on the simultaneous generation of higher-order harmonics and terahertz (THz) radiation from novel materials. He successfully built a comprehensive THz generation and detection scheme and conducted THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) of newly synthesized materials to investigate their nonlinear optical properties.
Dr. KSRao also gained hands-on experience in femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy (fs-TAS) during his tenure as a short-term postdoctoral fellow at the American University of Sharjah (AUS), UAE.
In recognition of his contributions to science and innovation, Dr. KSRao represented UOH at the Meeting of National Innovation Clubs (FION-2017) on March 8, 2017, held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
With an impressive research portfolio, Dr. KSRao has published 53 influential peer-reviewed articles and authored 1 monograph. He also serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several esteemed international journals.
At IIT Ropar, Dr. KSRao is committed to advancing research in ultrafast dynamics, nonlinear optics, and terahertz science and technology through the USP Laboratory.
