Dr. Reet Kamal Tiwari

Assistant Professor

Department of Civil Engineering

I received M.Sc degree in Geology and M. Tech degree in Remote Sensing and GIS in 2007 and 2009. I furthered my studies by pursuing Ph.D. degree in Earth Sciences from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, Uttarakhand, India during 2010–2015. In 2013, I joined Centre for Glaciology at Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun, India as Scientist while still pursuing my Ph.D. My doctoral work was on the application of remote sensing and GIS technique for glacial studies. Utilizing several advanced geospatial techniques, I estimated different glacial parameters to outline the glacial dynamics in part of Indian Himalayas. I have also worked on the application of geospatial techniques for planetary science. My work on the geology of moon produced first pieces of evidence about the recent volcanism on the far side of Earth's Moon. My research interests include Geospatial technology applications in the field of Snow, Ice and Glaciers, Climate change, natural resources management, environmental monitoring and planetary sciences.
