45^thInter IIT Sports Meet, Kanpur 2009

A contingent of about 70 players and athletes represented IIT Ropar at the 45th Inter IIT Sports Meet held at IIT Kanpur during Dec 2009. One of the students of IIT Ropar (Mr.AmandeepKamboj) won a silver medal in weightlifting event in the Under-62kg category and another student (Mr. Naveen Kumar) win the ‘Best Physique award’.

46^thInter IIT Sports MeetDelhi 2010

A contingent of 85 players and athletes represented IIT Ropar at the 46th Inter IIT Sports Meet held at IIT Delhi during Dec 2010. One of the students of IIT Ropar (Mr. Naveen Kumar) won a bronze medal in weightlifting event in the Under-77kg category. He was also awarded 2nd position in the ‘Mr. IIT’ competition.

47^thInter IIT Sports Meet, Khargpur 2011 

The 47th InterIIT Students Sports Meet was held atIITKharagpurfrom Dec 12th to Dec 19th, 2011.Acontingent of about 85 students(both boys and girls) wasled by Dr.HimanshuTyagi from IIT Ropar to participate in this meet. Many contestants have won in preliminary rounds in various events. Mr.LalitAggarwal(B.Tech 3rd year, Mechanical Engineering student)won the 3rd position inMr.IIT(Best Physique) competition. Following the student’s events, IITKharagpur alsohosted the 19th InterIITStaff SportsMeetinwhichMr.RamKumar(JuniorAttendant, SMMEE)won the bronzemedal in the hammer-throwevent.

48^thInter IIT Sports Meet, Roorkee 2012

IIT Ropar participated in 48^th Inter IIT Sports Meet, Roorkee from 17^th to 24^th December 2012 with a contingent of 92 students (81 boys and 11 girls). The students of the IIT Ropar participated in Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball and Weight Lifting. The staff of IIT Ropar participated in Athletics, Badminton and Table Tennis.

The boys’ team of IIT Ropar reached quarter finals of Table Tennis and Tennis and boy’s cricket team won their pool match against IIT Patna.

50^thInter IIT Sports Meet, Bombay 2014

The 50th Inter IIT Sports Meet was held in December 2014 at IIT Bombay. The sports meet was kicked off on 12th December 2014 with the March Past. The Opening Ceremony was graced by the presence of Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar. Mr. Agrim Bansal (Sports Secretary, IIT Ropar) and M/s Apoorva Rao led IIT Ropar contingent of 90 students in this march past at opening ceremony. 78 boys and 12 girls represented IIT Ropar in athletics, badminton (boys and girls), basketball, cricket, football, table tennis,tennis, volleyball (boys and girls) and bodybuilding. 

The contingent of IIT Ropar was high on confidence and was expected to do well. IIT Ropar started the sports meet with a very high energy. Team sports i.e. volleyball, table tennis, football, lawn tennis and badminton won one out of three matches in the group stage. In football match against IIT Patna Akshay Dahiya scored a hat-trick. Though the other teams could not do well, the spirit was not broken. Unfortunately none of the team could proceed to the knock out stage. In Athletics, Ramraj Meena reached the finals (last eight) of 800m and semi final of 400m. Darshan Aware reached the semi-finals in 100m.
