GENERAL LIBRARY RULES

  • All the students, faculty members and/or regular employees of the institute can avail the service of the library.
  • The Smart ID Card issued by the library is also your library membership card.
  • Always carry your Smart ID Card with you to the library. You must show it on demand.
  • Smart ID card is non-transferable. A fine of Rs. 300/- is applicable on loss of the card, charges are double on each re-issue of the duplicate card.
  • The borrower is responsible for the misuse or loss of the Smart ID card.
  • Maintain the decorum of the Library. Respect and follow library rules and procedures.
  • Users should maintain silence in the library and should not disturb other readers.
  • Reading areas are meant for individual study only.
  • Do not bring your personal belongings (bags, parcels etc.) inside the library. It should be kept in the property counter at their own risk.
  • Library will not be responsible for the loss or damage of personal belongings of the user.
  • Proper entry of laptops, personal books should be made in the Entry/Exit Portal.
  • Do not bring eatable inside the library.
  • Use of Mobile phone inside the library is strictly prohibited. To avoid disturbance keep it on silent mode and go out to talk when you receive calls.
  • Computers/ Laptops in the library are used only for the purpose of academic and research.
  • Browsing of websites which violates the dignity of the institution research work, distract other users attention is prohibited inside the library.
  • Any type of entertainment (like playing cards/ games, watching video/ movies, online chatting, etc.) is strictly not allowed to browse or watch in the library.
  • Users are requested to handle library property/ resources with care to avoid damage.
  • Any damage to the library property will be taken seriously and penalty will be charged and will be barred from entering library and complaints are forwarded to student affair sections for further procedure.
  • No books/ materials from the library should be taken out without proper issue. Taking book (s) without adhering to the procedure will invite disciplinary action.
  • User should not write, mark, and damage any book/ materials belonging to the library. Damage of any kind to the books will be taken serious and action will be taken.
  • Before issuing the book, the user should check it properly to ensure that there is no damage, if so missing papers, report to library circulation counter, otherwise he/she will be held responsible for damage, if found at the time of returning of the book.
  • Faculty and staff going on long leave, deputation, study leave or extraordinary leave will have to return all borrowed books/ materials before leaving the institute.
  • All books need to be returned for physical verification when intimated irrespective of the date of issue and category of users.
  • The library has the right to call back any issued book/item at any time.
  • Books and other materials taken out from the stack should be kept on the book trolley/table for re-shelving by the library staff.
  • Users should not remove/ unplug computer cable/ connection, network cable and other peripheral/ accessories in the library.
  • Users should not keep their reading materials (Notes, books etc.) and personal belonging on the table unattended.
  • The seats are to be used/ occupied on first cum first basis.
  • Users should sit in proper decent manner in the library. They should not rest or keep their feet on table, chair, shelves etc. Lay down/ sleeping on chair/ sofa in library not allowed.
  • Users should not reserve seat. Capturing/ reserving seat is strictly prohibited.
  • Library Xerox/photocopy service is fee based and user must adhere to copyright laws. Any copy right infringement is the responsibility of the users.
  • Group study rooms and discussion room, which is allotted for group studies/ discussion related to studies only. In group study rooms, users to discuss in a low tone.
  • In common sphere, students can have library related programme with prior permission.
  • Users entering/leaving the library should allow the security guard to examine their personal belongings and the library books issued to them.
  • Keep the library premises neat and clean.
  • Cooperate with the library staff.
  • Alert us upon misuse of library materials.
  • Help us to improve by providing feedbacks and suggestion regularly.
  • Feel free to seek assistance.
  • The rule is subject to revision/ change from time to time. Any amendment will be in the interest of the library and institution.
