General Instructions

Library Etiquette

It is important for you as a library user to respect study spaces and shared resources placed inside Library premises. Students who are visiting the Library must be aware of complete Library Rules. To access Library Rules, click here.

Searching a Book through Library Catalog (OPAC)

Search and locate books by call number written on the spine of the book. The print copy of the book(s) are available only in the Library. Therefore, a student must visit the Library for borrowing a book. To start searching, click here.

Institute cum Library Smart ID Card

Getting your RFID based Institute cum Library Smart ID Card.

Nalanda Library provides a RFID based Institute cum Library Smart ID Card to each Postgraduate student. Procedure involves following 3 steps:
1. Students receive an email (on official institute email) for filling up a google form asking basic details like recent photo, blood group, name etc.
2. After processing the details received therein, Library staff sends soft copy of ID cards to individual student on their official Institute email.
3. Student verifies the details in that email and therefore receives an email for collecting the hard copy of the same.

Borrowing Privileges

Issue & Renewal

Borrow books (maximum 5 at once) for 14 days and renew them by visiting the Library anytime 24x7.

Overdues

Always return books on time to avoid overdue fines. An overdue fine is calculated at Rs. 2 per day for 1st week, Rs. 4 per day for 2nd week, Rs. 8 per day for 3rd week and so on and so forth.

Lost Books

If a student loses a book, he/she needs to replace the same or latest edition as per library rules.

Vacation Borrowing

Extended borrowing of a single copy of book is available only during holidays.

Suggest a New Book

Procedure

For a rich collection development, Library encourages Students to suggest new books. Procedure involves
1. Fill Book Indent Form.
2. Get it signed by your HoD.
3. Submit the form at the Acquisition Section, Ground Floor, Nalanda Library.

Expected Timeline

The expected arrival of Book depends upon number of factors like availability with the vendor, publisher processing time, publishing delays, stock availability, procurement procedures, order processing time, shipping and courier transit time, transportation or logistics issues, unforeseen supply chain disruptions, and other circumstances beyond our control. We strive to bring a suggested book on the Library shelf at early as possible. When the book arrives

Whenever a suggested book arrives in the Library and technical processing is done (usually done the same day), Indentor receives an email for the same.

Circulation Textbooks

The platform features 988+ eBooks across core and advanced engineering subjects, 1430+ faculty-created instructional videos to aid visual and conceptual learning, 27 DataVis projects, 86 interactive spreadsheets, 13 case studies, 3 tutorials, and over 4000 interactive graphs along with thousands of downloadable tables for analysis, assignments, and research. Find Research Papers

Nalanda Library provide access to IEEE Xplore, ACM DL, Springer, Scopus and ScienceDirect among alot of other e-resources. If you are preparing for a project or writing a resarch article you can browse through these resources. The comprehensive list of all subscribed e-resources is available online. Citation Basics

Citing a work or citation involves giving full credit to any piece of information borrowed from another dataset therefore upholding integrity and avoiding plagiarism. To Learn about different citation styles, Zotero and Mendeley provide guides for writing bibliographies.

Similarity & AI Detection

We provide similarity and AI reports on requests through email. PG Students can send their document to Library for similarity and AI detection. Similarity and AI detection reports require careful handling to avoid report mix-ups or inadvertent sharing with the wrong student. Students are requested not to pressure the staff for immediate reports or repeatedly send urgent requests, as this may compromise the accuracy and proper handling of the process.

Study Spaces & Facilities

We provide multiple Reading places, namely Stack Area 1 and Stack Area 2 (both on the Ground Floor of Library), and on the First Floor - Reference Section, Journal & Nook Area, Common Sphere, Technobooth in addition to Wi-Fi, charging points, and extended access of Library space during semester exams.

Workshops & Learning Sessions

Workshops by Library

Nalanda Library conducts both offline training sessions, webinars, hands-on demonstrations and workshops on a wide range of topics, including research article publishing, literature searching, reference management, plagiarism awareness, AI tools for research, research data management, scholarly communication, open access, and author workshops conducted by leading publishers. Students are notified through the Bulletin-Board email whenever such events are scheduled.

Database Training

Nalanda Library organizes online and offline database training sessions, hands-on workshops, and vendor-led demonstrations to help users effectively access and utilize subscribed electronic resources. These sessions cover advanced search techniques, literature discovery, citation tracking, research analytics, full-text retrieval, and the effective use of databases such as Scopus, IEEE Xplore, and other scholarly resources. Students are notified through the Bulletin-Board email whenever such events are scheduled.

A PG Student can issue 5 circulation textbooks at a time.

Can I renew books online?

No, for renewal of books you need to visit the Library alongwith the borrowed books. You can use self-check kiosk for renewal.
